Scuba Dive Training worldwide with Pete Bucknell

Eilat, Israel: Aquasport Liveaboard

Disorganized in the office, but a great trip, and cheap!
You can go on Safari with several Dive Companies based in Eilat.
I happened to go with Aqua-Sport. They are a well known operation, extremely busy in the high season.

I was very happy with my 3 day safari experience: experienced guides, efficient crew, decent lodgings. No Nitrox was available at that time, so ask.

Here's a point-form break-down of what to expect:

Flip/flops, useful if you venture ashore on a secluded beach
Dive Equipment, include flashlight (rentable )
Surface Marker Buoys were not enforced, but….to be safe...
Cash to tip crew and guides, shekels are fine.
Get a cab from town to the border, cross from Eilat into Taba with the Aqua-Sport guide and divers late in the evening, don't take a knife, they are not allowed.
Duty-free cigarettes and booze half way across.
Visa issued at the border for US passports, no big deal.

Short walk from the border to the dock where you pick up rental gear if needed, sign releases, show cards and log-books.

Board the dive boat, drink a beverage, grab a room, usually a double with shower and toilet, electricity outlets.
Upstairs rooms have less engine noise, but more boat sway.

Set up your equipment, one tank for the whole trip, no nitrox
Briefing, then bed.

Dive 4 times a day, including night dives

Return last day in the afternoon, return gear, logbooks
Cross Border (lots of x-ray, search, security )
