Overview
Fanadir Reef is the longest reef in Hurghada, offering a gentle slope and a shallow plateau. The reef wall is relatively straight and protects the area from strong waves.
What you’ll see
It’s highly accessible for beginners and is a fantastic spot for macro photography. If you have a good eye, you can find pipefish, stonefish, octopuses, and Spanish dancers hiding in the coral blocks.
The Dive Experience
Fanadir offers a very relaxed and straightforward dive profile. You’ll descend onto a shallow, gently sloping coral garden. The site is protected from strong waves and currents, making it perfect for long, slow dives. The focus here is firmly on macro life and bottom dwellers. You’ll spend the dive searching the coral blocks and sandy patches for well-camouflaged species like stonefish, crocodilefish, and various types of pipefish.
Getting There
Located just north of Hurghada, it is a very short and comfortable boat ride, making it a popular choice for half-day trips or bad-weather days.
