The Best Dive Centres in Bonaire

By How2Scuba Editorial TeamUpdated: 7/6/2026

Bonaire is the undisputed shore diving capital of the world. Unlike Cozumel or Hurghada where you rely on large dive boats and tight schedules, Bonaire offers total freedom. The reef fringes the entire western coast, allowing you to rent a pickup truck, throw your tanks in the back, and dive wherever and whenever you want.

Because the diving model is so unique, choosing a dive centre here is less about finding a “guide” and more about finding a logistical partner. Here is how to choose.

1. The “Drive and Dive” Package Model

Almost every major dive centre in Bonaire operates on a package model. When you book, you aren’t just paying for air fills; you are booking a logistical ecosystem.

A standard “Drive and Dive” package typically includes:

What to look for in a package:

2. Drive-Through Tank Exchanges

The biggest differentiator between a good Bonaire dive centre and a great one is their tank exchange logistics.

Because you are doing self-guided shore diving, you will go through a lot of tanks. You do not want to be carrying heavy scuba cylinders through a hotel lobby three times a day.

Insider Pro Tip: When diving shore sites in Bonaire, never lock your rental truck and leave the windows rolled down. Petty theft of sunglasses and loose cash from unattended vehicles is common at dive sites. Take only what you need and leave the doors unlocked so thieves don’t break the glass!

3. Do You Still Need Boat Dives?

While Bonaire is famous for shore diving, do not entirely dismiss the dive boats.

Pro Tip: Bonaire requires all divers to purchase a STINAPA Marine Park tag before entering the water. The best dive centres will help you process this digital payment on your first morning and conduct your mandatory “orientation dive” on their house reef.

4. Beginner Training in Bonaire

While Bonaire is famous for independent, self-guided diving, it is also a phenomenal place to take your Open Water Course.
