Overview

Located off the west coast of Gili Trawangan, Shark Point is a dynamic site that starts with a shallow sloping reef before dropping off into a series of deeper ridges. It’s one of the best sites in the Gilis for spotting larger marine life.

What you’ll see

The site gets its name from the resident blacktip and whitetip reef sharks that cruise the deeper sandy bottoms.

  • Whitetip and Blacktip Reef Sharks
  • Green Sea Turtles (especially in the shallows)
  • Massive schools of Trevally and Snapper
  • The occasional passing Manta Ray

The Dive Experience

Shark Point is usually dived as a drift dive, as the current running through the Lombok Strait can be quite strong here. Beginners can stay in the shallow 12-18m sections where the current is more manageable, while Advanced divers can drop down into the deeper canyons around 30m to look for the larger sharks.

Getting There

It is a very short boat ride from Gili Trawangan, making it highly accessible. Dive boats usually drop divers in the current and pick them up down the reef.
